Aquarius is an advanced TCAD package that brings state-of-the-art performance to the design of next generation Wide Bandgap power device technology. Aquarius offers an intuitive interface for device design and circuit performance. It utilises a wide range of physical models for the most demanding of structures. Our tool offers the ability to model a range of semiconductor materials, including silicon and compound, that can be evaluated in a broad range of semiconductor applications.
Semiconductor manufacturers must develop process technologies under tight time and cost constraints. A significant factor influencing development time and cost is the number of engineering wafers required to finalise the new process. TCAD reduces the number of engineering wafers by simulating the process flow and device operation before any wafers are processed and during wafer-based process optimisation, saving both time and money. Moreover, Aquarius TCAD simulations offer engineers crucial insights into semiconductor device behaviour, potentially leading to innovative device concepts.
Aquarius TCAD allows for easy definition of complex physical structures in 2D, and delivers enhanced robustness by ensuring the mesh is of high quality which can be automatically refined on various criteria such as doping profile and electric field. The package also offers process modelling, including the definition of doping profiles using Monte-Carlo modelling. One key feature is the ease with which advanced defect modelling can be introduced into the device structure – critical in wide bandgap devices.
The circuit tool allows users to layout their devices in a circuit simulation environment. A variety of additional components can be added. This allows users to easily and quickly see how their device behaves in a circuit, considering factors like load conditions, switching speeds and thermal effects. This helps engineers optimise the overall circuit design, ensuring that the discrete power devices function efficiently and reliably in their intended applications.
Aquarius Visual offers users a state-of-the-art interactive 1D, 2D, and 3D visualization and data exploration environment. Aquarius Visual supports the postprocessing of output data to generate new curves and extracted parameters.
